Drewism

While driving home from dropping Gabe off at school Drew and I had the following conversation - Drew: "Mommy, I have a word for you!" Mommy: "You do, what is it?" Drew: "Do all things without grumbling or complaining." Mommy: "Thank you Drew, that is a good word, does that word have power?" * I've been trying to feed of his love for having "powers" and correlating that to God's word being powerful when we speak it. Drew: "Yes, it came from the Bible so it has power." Mommy: "Do you know what the Bible says about God's word?" Drew, "Yes, but I can't remember." Mommy: "God says his words in the Bible have great power and are sharper than a double edged sword, His word has power when we speak it and will never return without impact." Drew: "I remember now, so....(after thinking a few seconds) is it powerful enough to even chop your head off!" I couldn't st...

Cute

Drew to Mommy while cleaning up his room. "Mommy, my room smells." Mom to Drew, "Why does your room smell?" Drew: "I don't know but its coming from my body." Mom to Drew, "Well, do you need to go to the bathroom?" Drew, "No, I think I just need some of that good room smeller that you spray when Gabe's room smells like diapers!"

Delights from an almost 5 year old

Mommy to Drew, " Drew we can't go camping this weekend because its not safe for mommy and the baby. I wouldn't be able to lift anything so we're going to camp in our backyard instead." Drew replied, " Well, we can still go, I'll carry everything with my big muscles, you won't have to life a thing! See these big muscles mommy!" Mommy to Drew, " Drew please don't get close to that window, its open and I don't want you to fall through." Drew replied, " Would I die? I know, I could put on a parachute and then I wouldn't die falling out the window !

If You Give A Mom A Minute.....

If You Give a Mom a Minute, She will notice that her son's chin is covered in peanut butter and jelly, When she goes to wipe it off, she notices that he is also stinky, So she carries her child upstairs for a diaper change, Mom steps over dirty laundry and then decides to pick them up and places them in the hamper, Next, as she goes to change the diaper she notices that there aren't any diapers in the diaper stacker so she heads to the closet for refills, After opening a new packages of diapers she decides to put them all in the diaper stacker so next time there will be plenty. As she is placing them in the diaper stacker, her son decides to climb off the changing table, So she picks him up and puts him back on the table to change his diaper, which is the whole reason she went upstairs to begin with, As she is wiping her sons bottom, she notices that they are low on wipes, so she refills those as well. While mom is refilling the wipes, her son sticks his hand in his private par...

Our Peanut

We'll I'm still sick at 10.5 weeks. Each day I awake thinking "maybe today I'll get back my energy and stop getting sick." With Drew I wasn't sick more than a few days, with Gabe it was about a month. We're on week 8 with our little peanut with no end in sight. I'm exhausted, but that may be from having two energetic boys, two trips to Oregon in a month and putting our house on the market? We had a great time in Oregon for our short visit. We're frantically getting the last minute house details completed so it can get put on the market the day we leave. We just finished painting the door black, adding brushed nickel accents, cleaning the carpets and floors, and re-painting the existing baseboards. I've also been cleaning up the garden and sprucing up the grounds with some new color. We've been so busy and things around here must know we're leaving because everything is breaking! John and I just laugh at the humor of it all. One funny ...

Fathers Day Humor

John had a woman come into Home Depot today and ask to see the routers. She said her husband wanted a router for Fathers Day. John took her over to the routers (large molding and shaping power tool that normally sits on the end of a table saw) and she sighed, "Well, I expected it to look smaller, how does my husband plug it into his computer?" After John stopped laughing he gave her directions to the Office Depot around the corner!

One of THOSE Days...

Sunday was one of those days where I wondered, "have I lost my mind?" First we arrived to church later than desired, the worship and message were wonderful and it challenged me for another week. I arrived home and tried to get the boys through lunch and then Gabe took his nap. This is when all the chaos started, we left for church team and arrived on time! Drew insisted that he wanted to "run out his energies" by climbing stairs close to the building so as I watched him out of the corner of my eye while I grabbing Gabe out of his seat. I took his hand and into the building we went.... very slowly because Gabe can only walk so fast and is too heavy to carry very far! Our team was great and then I collected the kids and out to our car we went, only to discover that I had left the car door wide open - for 2 hours! What a goof! Some sweet ladies had gone all over the church asking for the owner of the car, but we're in the way back of the building, so I didn't g...

Summer Fun

Look how we initiated our first week of hot weather! The boys had so much fun swimming and getting all wet. I enjoyed watching the boys laugh and splash and flashed lots of pictures! My grass looks beautiful this year, which is making for great color in my pictures! Gabe is still teething.... 3 weeks of teething for 1 tooth, that is only 1/2 of the way in.. ugh! Gabe was horrid last night, waking twice and staying awake for over an hour. I even resorted to giving him a bottle and he threw it right out of the crib. The Advil wasn't doing the trick either and John and I were both exhausted by morning - made for a great night! Drew's latest adult conversation time in the car involves telling me, "full speed ahead Mom" in the car when he wants me to speed up. Today he told me, "Mom, full speed ahead." When I said, the light is red, he retorted, "Oh, well full speed ahead when its green, the cars in front will move out of your way!" Nothing like list...

Mean Mom

Yes, I am a mean mother. What mother would buy little girl pull-ups for her little boy - strictly because there weren't any little boy pull ups in Drew's size - they were on sale and evidently a popular item. I could have bought him one size up, but they put in 3 less pull ups! So, I did what any mean mother would do, I bought little girl pull-up and hoped Drew wouldn't notice. He only wears them to bed, its not like anyone other than our family would see them! So, last night when Drew prepared for bed he came running in and exclaimed that there weren't any pull-ups left. I pulled out the little girl package and handed him one. He just looked at me and said, "Mom, these are for girls, see the pink and flowers. I'm not wearing those!" To which this mean mother replied, "When you can sleep all night without wetting your pull-up, then you can wear your manly underwear to bed!" Drew slumped his shoulders, hung his head and mopped into his little girl...

Postage Increase

I just want you all to know that I figured out why postage keeps going up! Take a look at what the postal lady did to our mailbox today, the good news, she hand delivered our mail and will be for quite some time! John and I have been laughing all afternoon - its either laugh or cry!

Control

Have you ever wondered if you struggle with issues of control? I have a wonderful test that you can perform the next time your at a carnival. Just send your son, husband, and new Nikon D-80 camera onto a Farris Wheel and see how you react! Did you react to the total loss of control? Did you glue your eyes onto your child, memorize the "cage" number their in, pray for the ride to be over, scream at your husband to make your child sit down - even though the only people who heard you were those directly in front of you? Did you check to see if your husband had the camera strap around his neck while snappin g pictures of you from 75 feet in the air - he didn't by the way. Did you almost ask the attendent to stop the ride when you saw your son reach out and touch the metal brace at the top of the ride or when you saw the front of his head peeking over the back of the seat? Did you mentally image your new camera crashing to bits on the cement? I would never do such things, obv...

First Person

For many, especially those with girls, enjoying the artwork of their children is a common occurrence. In our home it is very lacking, not for lack of trying, but for lack of interest. So I am so proud to post Drew's very first person - a beautiful picture of baby Jesus. Can you see the arms? He doesn't have legs because, according to Drew, Jesus is "wrapped in swaddling clothes" so the blanket covers his legs. To a mommy, it is as if Vincent Van Gogh himself drew this special piece of art. My favorite part is his hair, so adorable! I am so proud of Drew for his hard work and perseverance to draw me a beautiful, time consuming, picture!

Not Me Monday

So it is late and I need to go spend time with my sweet husband, but I thought I'd post one quick "Not Me Monday" as not to forget this very special moment between mother and son, so here goes. I did not give my almost 4 year old his first tampon 101 lesson! Yes, what kind of a mother would do such a thing to an innocent child? I most certainly didn't go to the bathroom and not lock the door, only to discover my 4 year old had not walked in, tipped his head down to look between my legs and was smiling at me while I was... ahem.... making a fast bathroom change. After his initial shock and many "why" questions, he was thrilled to know that it didn't hurt and he wouldn't need to do such things because he has the blessing of being a boy. I'm sure he won't tell his friends in class about this tomorrow and his teachers won't ask how he knows so much... Before you laugh and think it won't happen, at the beginning of they year he informe...

Not Me Monday

I did not take the dog out last night and spot a very nice sized Grillmate BBQ sitting along the curb waiting for bulk trash to pick it up. I did not push (and pull) that 100 pound BBQ the 1/4+ mile to my house, thumping and banging over every sidewalk crack! I did not pray that no cars or people would see me and call the police. I wasn't reading the Newspaper heading - "Crazy Woman Caught Walking BBQ Grill: Sent to Institution!" Graciously at 10:00 pm there weren't many people out! I'm not wishing I was in better shape as my arms sit here and throb from my unexpected workout! I did not surprise my husband with a new BBQ that is way better than the one we bought 6 years ago! I'm not totally excited about this fun bargain that only needs new nobs! Now if only I could get John to pick up that artificial tree on the other side of the block? I did not go to Walgreen's and buy 50.00 worth of stuff for 3.08, driving in the ice might I add (who does that for bar...

You know... Ribs Mommy?

From the mind of an almost 4 year old! Tonight we went to our church team Christmas party. While driving there Drew asked what we were having for dinner. I told him I wasn't sure, but we were bringing ribs to share with everyone! There were a few seconds of silence, then I heard, "Ribs? You mean we're eating the rib like, from Adam?" I didn't fully grasp his statement so I answered, " Sure." Then Drew commented, "So God made Eve out of Adam's rib, why are we eating Adams rib?" Oops, then I tried to explain that cows have ribs and their yummy to eat. He still looked a little confused!
