Drew's First Month

2/16/05 - We updated our website so you can all see more pictures of the baby! 2/12/05 - Well, Nana left to return to Oregon today. It was so sad to say goodbye. Now real life with a baby will start. I won't have someone to cook, clean, and do my filing for work! It was so hard to say good-bye because I knew that my "real" life was now beginning. It will take a few weeks to get a routine into place. Drew has officially turned into a baby. He is sleeping less and is eating a ton! John and I went to a Valentines day party at church last night and Nana watched Drew. I left about 3 oz of breast milk as an emergency, but since Drew had never had a bottle I didn't think it would work. When we returned home my mom had given him the 3 oz in the bottle - he guzzled it down in 5 minutes. He then was hungry an hour later and she put 3 oz of formula in the bottle and he guzzled that down. I think Drew is going through a growth spurt. He now weighs over 7 pounds! 2/7/05 - ...

Our Little Preemie Arrived

John Andrew Williams was born on January 24th, 2005 at 35 weeks 4 days. He is a very happy and healthy daddy's boy! The per-eclampsia did indeed get worse, so the doctor sent me immediately over to the hospital for delivery. John's Dad Mike and my Dad Brian were there - how special that Drew's grandpa's were around to meet their first grandson just hours after birth!   We were admitted to the hospital around 11:00 am on Monday and Drew arrived at 6:56 pm that same day . I found out that I did indeed inherit the Melville pregnancy genes! Praise the Lord! I had 45 minutes of intense contraction that took me from 6 cm to 10+ cm, and then 10 minutes of pushing. What a huge blessing! Little Drew came out so quickly that the nurse almost delivered the baby. Our wonderful doctor jumped into her scrubs in what seemed about 40 seconds and arrived just in time. Praise the Lord that the baby arrived without any more complications. Thank you all for ...

Birth Day May Have Arrived!

January 24th - We are going to the doctors office this morning and I have a feeling today will be little Drew's birthday. We had a huge scare last night when I couldn't get the baby to move for a few hours. The nurse at our doctors practice had me eat a bunch of soup and some ice water and we were finally able to get the baby to make a few movements. I will be seeing the doctor first thing tomorrow morning - we think the preclampsia has gotten worse and is putting stress on the baby. This would explain why has hasn't been moving much today. Pray for us today! I am so huge - nothing fits and I'm gaining about a pound of water per day. I have to wear John's shoes to the Dr. Appointment.

Goal: 34 Weeks Reached

January 11th - Today is our 2nd wedding anniversary! My doctor gave me the greatest gift, after 5 weeks in the hospital I can finally go home at 34 weeks!! I am so excited! Technically I am still on bed rest for one more week, but I convinced John to let me ride around Costco on one of those motorized carts! It is such a treat to be in the real world again. John and I bought our first box of diapers and wipes - it was so exciting (and expensive). I even found a few cute Carter outfits that I couldn't resist buying! Loos at the beautiful room John and his brothers and my Dad built while I was in the hospital - isn't it beautiful? Now all we need is this long anticipated baby!
